Raised on trust.

Registered Highland cattle and miniature donkeys, handled every day and gentled by hand on our small family ranch in Dwight, Nebraska.

Built to carry a family's legacy forward

Legacy Acres Ranch honors my dad, Officer Ross Bartlett of the Ceresco Police Department, who was killed in the line of duty on April 12, 2024. He raised me, and he was my dad. His family ranched in western Nebraska when he was a boy. He was an only child and the last of his bloodline, so our logo is built from his family's cattle brands. That double-hooked bar never changes. Today we raise registered Highland cattle and miniature donkeys on our place near Dwight. Every animal is named, handled every day, and raised the way I think Dad would be proud of. - Tiff

Gentled at Legacy Acres

Calm, curious animals who choose to come to you

I spend hours with the herd most days. Training happens slowly, without chasing, until trust is just how they live. Here is what our animals learn before they ever leave the ranch:

  • Follow on cue: Walks with you across the pasture, no chasing.

  • Come when called: Even from the far end of the north pasture.

  • Load and unload: Steps in and out of the trailer calmly.

  • Lie down with you: Relaxed enough to rest beside a person.

  • Take treats gently: Soft mouths and good manners at snack time.

  • Brushing and scratches: Stands for grooming and loves it.

Meet the OG Herd

The founders of Legacy Acres

  • Teddy (Theodore Edward, Silver dun Highland bull): The cuddler. Follows me everywhere and will happily let you nap on him. Our first herd bull, starting summer 2028.

  • Jasper (Jasper Charles, Dun Highland bull): Sweet when Teddy isn't around and a little spicy when he is. His middle name, Charles, was my dad's.

  • Thelma (Thelma Jane, Brindle Highland heifer): Our sweet goofball. Gives kisses, sticks out her tongue, and carries the rare brindle color.

  • Nellie (Eleanor Grace, Dun Highland heifer): The newest member of the OG Herd. She came home October 23, 2026.

  • Milo (Milo James, Miniature donkey jack): The mischievous one. If something got moved overnight, it was Milo.

  • Otis (Otis Andrew, Miniature donkey jack): Our little stalker. If you're in the pasture, Otis is right behind you. He wants all the pets and would stand for brushing and scratches all day.

Calves and foals

Out of an OG Herd heifer

Coming home soon: Louise (red/yellow heifer, December 2026), Lucy and Ethel (red heifers, February 2027), Henry (red steer, March 2027), Dolly and Daisy (miniature donkey jennies, March 2027). Our first Legacy Acres calves are planned for spring 2029, sired by Teddy. Each calf is raised with its mom and gentled from day one, so it arrives at your place already used to people. Every calf goes home with a vet check, vaccine records, Bang's vaccination for heifers, HHCA registration transfer for registered calves, our Raised on Trust care guide, and a Gentled at Legacy Acres shirt for you.
